Ensuing Happiness

“Happiness cannot be pursued; it must evolve. One must have a reason to be happy. Once the reason is found, however, one becomes happy automatically. A human being is not one is pursuit of happiness, rather in search of a reason to be happy… through actualizing the potential meaning inherent and dormant in a given situation.” –Viktor Frankel

An illustration is laughter. One cannot pursue or generate genuine laughter, but laughter arises from ones encountering or discovering something humorous.

It would seem then, and is so, that abiding happiness, sustained joy, would come from the discovery of an ultimate meaning. A mighty purpose is inherent and dormant in the path of enlightenment. And, this is the philosophy of the best philosophers. But, what constitutes a “mighty purpose”? How is such a state of mind discovered? Achieved?
